A Quiet Place (2018)
Olga's Notes:
Note1: I used to be a huge fan of horror movies; nowadays I prefer to keep my heart rate steady and my supper down. But then I saw the trailer for “A Quiet Place”.
Note2: Not an original premise by any means – a family trying to survive in the post-apocalyptic world – “A Quiet Place” still manages to pull off a terrifying difference. If they hear you, they hunt you. So simple. So effective.
Note3: Watching the understandably small cast tiptoe around the screen in a deafening silence is quite literally breathtaking. And rarely have I seen an actress more believable than the young Millicent Simmonds (two other such actresses that spring to mind are Jodie Comer in “Killing Eve” and Anya Taylor-Joy in “The Witch”).
Helena's Notes:
Note1: No true horror-fan would ever use a word such is nowadays. Except if they’re an old skool Dracula fans, or maybe in love with Mary Shelley or Annabelle Lee.
Note2: “A Quiet Place” is a great movie to watch if you want to escape the true horrors of the outside world. Plus, it is pleasingly devoid of people. As in, post-apocalyptically empty. As in, there’s still hope.
Note3: I have every respect for those super talented young actresses, I really do. BUT, it must be so very easy for them, waltzing around in front of the cameras, pretending that shit's hitting the fan, knowing full well that it actually wasn't, and that it probably never will.
I'd like to see how they'd act in a real life danger. Or the dangers imposed upon their ass by their writer. It's all too easy, pretending to be fictional, girls. Not so easy being it for real.
Just saying.
